“I’m Badboy!” Robert said when asked his name. He was calling himself Badboy in primary school and he was still calling himself Badboy in high school. His mother lovingly nicknamed him Badboy because of his cute baby antics. She didn’t understand the hidden power of words. To make matters worse, everyone called him Badboy instead of Robert, his given name. They were also clueless.
Words are more than words. They shape us with their hidden power and collective influence on practical and subliminal levels. They can be toxic in normal conversation and fatal when it comes to our name which is there for life. Our name not only solidifies our identity but is constantly repeated to our face and behind our back. As such it should reflect positive attributes.
Robert thought his nickname was cute and never gave it a second thought but was this the right attitude?
The Mindset mentor podcast points out that carelessly using negative words about ourselves is like self-fulfilling prophesy. Our subconscious mind mistakenly believes whatever we utter about ourselves and may become what we don’t want. As an example he describes a woman who came to an event beautifully dressed and feeling great until a friend worriedly told her she looked tired, and asked if she was unwell. Immediately, the woman beauty crumbled to the ground. .
Of course Robert didn’t know that words carry the vibration of their core meaning and project that vibration onto whatever they are labeling. He never considered the core meaning of Bad in Badboy.
He’d also never heard of Dr. Masaro Emoto’s who discovered that words had power to change the molecular structure of water! Taking two containers of distilled water Emoto put positive word tags on one and negative word tags on the other. He then froze drops of the water from each container and found that the ones with the positive labels produced beautiful symmetrical crystal forms and the ones with the negative words formed asymmetrical deformed water crystals.
If Dr Emoto had placed all the synonyms of Robert’s nickname Badboy on a container of water the frozen crystals might have come out like the hypothetical example below. But if he had placed all the synonyms for his given name Robert on a container of water the crystals might have been beautiful like the real meaning of his given name.
The name you give your child can either be a powerful asset or a handicap. It’s meaning is a constant reinforcement of personal value so one should be very careful when picking a child’s name and one should not tweak the name to form an equivalent of Badboy when it is just as easy to give pleasant uplifting nicknames.
